We are a 17th Century coach inn, now operating as a Freehouse, situated in the beautiful village of Empingham in the county of Rutland. We offer traditional home cooked food with a twist, a selection of local cask ales, a phenomenal wine list and a warm and friendly welcome.
A STORY CARVED IN STONE
Dating back to the 17th century, our coaching inn has stood at the heart of Empingham for over 350 years. Originally a resting place for travellers making the journey between London and the North, the inn has witnessed centuries of history pass through its doors.
The stone walls, oak beams, and inglenook fireplaces remain much as they were when the first coaches pulled into the courtyard a testament to the enduring craft of those who built them.
THE TROUT TODAY
Today, Harvey and Emma have breathed new life into these historic walls. As a proud Freehouse, we are free to source the finest local cask ales, craft a phenomenal wine list, and serve traditional home cooked food- always with a twist.
Whether you are settling in by the fire after a walk around Rutland Water or joining us for a special evening, The Twisted Trout is a place to slow down, savour, and feel at home.
